Another one: Why Martha Jones is also a badass, parallelled from the one regarding Rose.

Martha Jones is clever. She might have a good ride lifewise, but she is nevertheless, intelligent, and naturally quick-thinking without her intellectual training, which except for injuries, did not give her an unfair advantage. She also has a fantastic sense of humour.

Martha Jones cares. She didn’t show any fear when the Doctor was possessed. She helped a Hath, She walked the earth to save the human race and her family from the Master; she helped the people in the Hooverville. She wanted to be doctor, which is a thankless task at the best of times, and she was a tireless mediator between her warring parents.

Martha Jones takes a stand. She doesn’t follow the Doctor blindly, like when she refused to leave the Doctor in Evolution of the Daleks; took charge in 42 and stood up for herself against the derogatory attitudes of 1913. She refused to stay and suffer and left the Doctor; she was getting out. She didn’t panic when her hospital was suddenly transported to the moon.

Martha Jones fell in love, but she was not loved back. Unrequited love did not make her weak, it made her stronger, and desperately unhappy until she made the decision she had enough and ‘got out’- and was stronger for it. Although it hurt, she stuck with Doctor, but took the decision to walk away, and get out. Martha showed him more of human brilliance. She was genuinely happy for him when he was reunited with Rose. She didn’t need him to validate her existence. As with Rose, the Doctor made her the best she could be and realise she wasn’t second best. She is now freelance and loving it, defending the Earth.

Martha Jones walked for a year across the Earth in the worst state it possibly could have been, under the influence of the Master. She saved lives wherever she went, using her skills as a doctor, defended herself against Pig Slaves

Martha Jones is Shakespeare’s ‘Dark Lady’, the wonderful, beautiful and strong woman that went down in history, she was the only Human who could stop the Master, and he saw her as a threat. She engineered the Doctor’s plan [erefctly, and saved the world, by walking across the world for a a year and convinced the Master she was after an anti-regeneration gun that didn’t exist.

Martha Jones is also a regular girl. She likes to flirt, have lunch with her sister and study for her exams and worries about paying the rent. She had a hectic but normal life, dealing with her warring parents and her sister and brother as well as her workload as a medical student. She lost a cousin in the Battle of Canary Wharf. She was just like the the other medical students, learning to be aa doctor and dealing with an overbearing Consultant. And all with a smile on her face. She isn’t perfect, but no real human is, she was in ways insecure, but by Series 4, she had grown up so much; she even helped Torchwood, and was a succesful member of UNIT.

Martha is unfairly criticised. She is always compared to Rose, because she followed her. Rose has hyperbole and grand gestures.

/haters NOT gonna hate

Martha is not inferior to any other companion. She is not whiny, she does have a story arc, and to me, she is defiantly the least annoying of the Doctor companions, not that it matters. Just because Rose was in love and loved back, and Ten/Rose does not make her the right to be given more leeway or my elevation. And what about the Dimension Cannon? Did she think about consequences? Did she know them?
She would even leave her own mum who she supposedly loved so much for the Doctor. And lookie, Journey’s End, still would leave her mum. I don’t hate her, I just find her extremely unsettling. And how would you react if,like Martha, you suddenly were compared to someone who came before them who was loved, and you knew shit all about it, and no one would even tell you. I really felt bad for her during that moment in Utopia with Ten and Jack celebrating her being alive in a parallel world. Subtle, guys, subtle.

FUCK YEAH MARTHA JONES.

Oh, She was blonde, what a surprise(!)

And I think Freema portrays her well, she’s a very naturalistic actor and she’s awesome.

As is DT as usual.

*Oh and just to add, personally, I believe the Doctor needs people like Martha, or Donna, and sometimes Jack and Rory.(RAWRRRY.<3)

Bringing this back because… haters:  hahaha, you wrong though.
